How Does Media Affect Today’s Filipino Youth? Media are the means by which information were being transmitted to the mass.Nowadays it has become an integral part of the youth’s life. Obliviously, it contributes roughly totheir daily routine. Greedily, it eat ups our system – “the gluttonous media”. Today as we live in 21st century, our life become easier but dangerous at the same time, as media overpowering us youth.
The way youths act inside their house and school changed as they engage to media. As the Global Media Journal said. ” Filipino youth today are more the product of mass media rather than their genes or school, it least of all, their homes. Moreoften, youths were being scolded by their parents daily for their habitual deeds – watchingmovies through different Medias such as televisions, cell phones, and iPads, online gaming,surfing the net for Facebook, Instagram, tweeter and other social media sites. At school, most of the time you will see students facing their gadgets rather than books even during class hours.Instead of writing, youths are typing or sometimes capturing photos of their lessons. Yes, some are still doing household chores and academic related things but surely it is always done with the use of medias in between times. It’s like, a youth cannot live a day without the media. Also media become the way as a platform where Filipino youth showcase their hidden and natural talents around the world, more often because of these social media platform youth become greedy to get some attention in the internet in the way they would do anything just to have more like and viewers.
As we talking about how media affect the youth’s daily routine, simply we can say that thegluttonous media eats most or sometimes all of our time without us knowing. We are turning thesupposedly treasured hours into a junk by mismanaging the media and so today we must be aware of it so we say that we still have the sovereignty over it and not the opposite.
